Keeping to his word, Alan did take take the night shift to guard
the prism. However,
after the bustling activity of the day, he was
much too tired to
stay up once visiting hours were over. Karen, who
had watched the activity
around the museum since the arrival of the
gem, had made her
way inside. She could see him sitting at a desk
near the prism, trying
to keep himself away. However, the television
he was watching and
the coffee he drank did little to help him.
However, an even more hated competitor made her entrance.
"Cathra!!" Karen whispered in anger, as the tall, sleek, black-
garbed figure walked
to the dosing detective. Meanwhile, her valet,
Bruno, stood before
the gem. Once the Russian cat burglaress/pri-
vate detective was
sure he was asleep, she put her simple plan into
play. She merely switched
the real prism for an imitation!
"Darn it!!" Karen whispered to herself, quite enraged. "That
crazy Rooski'll ruin
everything!! I gotta stop her!!"
